Our in store clothing line is simply named BTBhandmade, and our motto is REcycle, REuse, REwork, RElove... Our design team of fashion and textile graduates recycle old clothing into something new, taking great pleasure in breathing new life into forgotten garments. For example, when recycling old skirts into dresses — bearing in mind how much thought and effort goes into a piece, to working out how every inch of fabric can be reused, including the zip — for it to end up as a dress with a price tag of £20 is pretty remarkable! We strongly believe in supporting the local universities and colleges and with the amount of creative fashion and textile courses in this city its nice to be able to give graduates the opportunity of an outlet. Why feel like you need to move to london if we can bring a similar vibe to Newcastle. BTBhandmade is ever growing and we have plans to make it a wonderful creative haven. We are in the process of setting up a sewing area in the shop so customers can see us producing the clothing up front, which enables us to provide an alteration service. So many people try on garments and we hear various comments: "It would be nicer shorter", or "It's a little on the large side", "I don't like the sleeves", "The neckline doesn't suit me", etc, etc...... with our staff at hand with the skills to be able to do something about it then how could we refuse! This service ranges from simple hem alterations to total customisation of garments to suit our customers. The 'handmade' element of the business is rapidly expanding. We are now very proud of a 7 label strong handmade team. Though our roots are in fashion, we are now able to offer extensive collections of jewellery and artwork.
